Due to the increased demands of work, many parents are unable to monitor the amount of sleep our children actually get. Children on the other hand are forced to push back their bedtime because of school and after school activities. Not to mention the influence of television, computer games and other life factors.
Before asking weather we are getting enough sleep, let us first establish the right figures. Studies show that adults should average between 7 and 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night. So it is logical that children should get more than that. Now this all depends on each and every one of us. And some of us do just fine on 7 hours. But if you are feeling tired or your child starts to act cranky. It maybe because you are not getting enough sleep. So what amount of time is right for you?

Some interesting information given here. I tend to use the rule of sleeping even hours, i.e. 4,6,8, gives a better sleep than sleepn odd hours 5,7,9,. It works for me. So if I go to bed at 10:00 I make sur ethe larm is set for 6:00 or 8:00, not 7:00.
Like you say sleeping patterns are different for everyone.
